Development:
The planned licensing meeting on 31st January turned sour at 10pm the night before, when we discovered engine component damage that was not repairable. Myself and the team were disappointed, but understanding that our engine combo is experimental and will take some sorting out over time. Unlike a Chev or other proven drag engine, we cannot go and buy "off-the-shelf" billet or forged parts from the US. All our parts are designed in house and machined locally. The engine has been removed for a teardown and rebuild, and more strengthening bridles designed to be machined and fitted. To make a factory designed 300hp engine reliable at 1,100 to 1,400hp requires engineering skill and testing time.
Testing
The crew enjoyed a leasurely sojorn up past Gingin in WA, about an hour north of Perth, for some testing at a private location. Over 16 passes were done, to sort out a base tune for the blown alcohol setup. Another trip up on Australia Day morning continued the testing and tuning.
