Winter Break

Seems like we are busier during the winter break than during the racing season, but as Pete Veersma always tells me "The race is won and lost in the shed Paul". With that in mind we commenced a series of modifications to both increase horsepower, and safely transfer that extra horsepower to the track through the chassis and suspension.

The extra horsepower will come via a change of supercharger. The 8/71 Littlefield roots blower has been sold, and a B Series PSI screw blower purchased from local Funny Car racer Stuart Rolland. A new manifold has to be manufactured to fit the new blower, which is actually bigger than the 20B engine! Screw blowers take far less power to drive, and produce nice clean air into the manifold without the pulsing of the roots blower.

We installed a torsion bar in the ladder bar rear end, to take care of some minor rear end twist and to ensure the car launches straight. This torsion bar design comes straight from John Zappia's 12 month testing program on his Top Doorslammer, where his work has cured his car's launch problems.

Extras like a new Stroud parachute, new fuel tank, new EGT probes, modified tacho etc etc have kept us busy as well. Looking forward to the first run with the new combo at the Test and Tune 8th Oct 2005 at the Kwinana Motorplex.
